Kindle for iPod Touch/iPhone

Downloaded it today and it seems neat so far on my son's pod, but thinking of using it to buy my wife a ebook when I get my own and wondering how do you use the text to speech function of the Kindle ebook? It says now its able to do it, but I have not figured out how to make it happen yet. Hopefully someone with me experience can help me with this.

Does Apple really allow some stuff which from Microsoft fit with their own products?

I have the Kindle app and use it on a regular basis, and I'm almost certain there's no text-to-speech function on it. I could be wrong, but I think that's only for Kindle hardware.

Daily use: 3G nano 8GB, 4G touch 8GB
Previously used: 1G nano 4GB, 2G nano 4GB, 2G touch 8GB

The kindle iOS app does not do text to speech, only their hardware does. iBooks will do text to speech though, but it is done through accessibility and is not that easy to use. - works well once you figure it out.
