That's odd...have new member restrictions changed?

Wondered if the "new member" restriction on posting links has been changed; my Spider-sense went off when reading the most-recent post in this thread... took a couple of minutes to realize, "Hey, s/he got a link posted! Cool, wonder how...neat trick." (Entities maybe? Like for beating the Naughty Word filter ;-)

Actually, yes. The URL restriction on the old forums was custom code that had been written specifically for that version of vBulletin. I never bothered to port over that code as the new vBulletin provides ore advanced spam filter which thus far seems to catch most of the spam without our having to worry about tying the hands of legitimate new members.

Hey, that's great! Gotta be boosting your new member retention numbers, making for a happy boss -- everybody wins ;-)

(The wording of that forum rule was kinda vague, so I had to ask ;-)

Good point. I don't think we ever updated the Forum Policy to actually reflect that change. I'll have to go and take a look...
