Work around for Renamed m4b files to show in Audiobooks Library

Only ripped files with an m4b (frequently renamed from m4a) will play slower/faster and show in Audiobooks Library. After renaming, you must delete and add the renamed files back to iTunes to get them to show in Audiobooks Library. An mp3 made to bookmark will not play slower/faster nor show in Audiobooks.

Audilble.com and iTunes purchases show in Audiobooks Library, play faster/slower.

All of the above bookmark.

EDIT: See iTunes 8 new thread for one click convert of any file to audiobooks.

How to delete and restore files from Trash to iTunes on a Mac

I asked at the Apple Store, and trash must be moved to the desktop before adding back to iTunes (Of course, you can highlight the deleted files in the trash bin by selecting the first file, pressing shift and selecting the last file to highlight all the files to drag as a group to desktop where they will tightly stack). You can then Left Click to upper left of the files dragged to desktop, Drag the resulting rectangle to encompass all the files and then drag the rectangle including al the files to the iTunes icon of the dashboard.

Alternatively, if you are using Time Machine, restore iTunes to just prior to the accidental delete.

Edit: see iTunes 8 for one click convert to Audiobooks.
