audible.com How good is it?

Well I have been buying audio books via iTunes and well I have been buing a book about once a month. They have a subcription for 14.95 a month and you get one credit a month. From what I can tell is a book is a credit. Once I have the book I can listen to it via the iPhone. Do I get to keep the books or do I loose the book when I stop the audible.com account?

It would be cheeper for me with the account but is it worth it?

Anyone that has an account with them please let me know how you like it?

Also are the books bought from iTunes the same format as if I would get them from audible.com?

I have been an audible customer for years. They may not have absolutely everything, but they'll have stuff you want. Without my computer in front of me, I cannot tell you the file type, but I think they are the same. I just cancelled my acct because I had way too many credits and not enough time to listen, but I made sure to use them all first. Be aware that if you cancel your acct, you lose any credit you have banked. You do, however, retain access to your library. I can go in and DL any if the 100 or so books I've purchased prior to cancelling. It really is a good service. I think they have a trial period...

I have used Audible for all of my audio books. The format that they are in is .aa (probably stands for audible audio). They have an Audible Downloader that imports them directly into iTunes. As sights0d mentioned, if you cancel your account you still have access to the library. They have several different options for accounts. If you do a Google search you can find anything from a couple of free books or discounted rates for the first couple of months.

Thanks when I get back home from the trip I think I will do the trial 3 months at 7 something and ya get one credit per month. It goes up to the 1495 a month after that and if I read just one book a month thats worth the price.

I just wanted to make sure it would work on my iPhone.

Yes it will work with the iPhone. 90% of what I listen to on my iPhone are audiobooks from Audible.

I got an e-mail from Audible a few weeks ago, offering me a free credit and fifteen (maybe thirty) day membership. I signed up, downloaded David Sedaris' "When You Are Engulfed In Flames," and cancelled my membership. I haven't listened to it yet, but I intend to.

I already had John Hodgeman's "The Areas of My Expertise," which they offered for free through iTunes a year or two ago. I actually ended up buying the book, because it was so good. He has another coming out in October, which I'm waiting for.

I've used Audible for a couple years and love it. I recently cancelled my account though (trying to save money).
I had the $14.95/mo membership, and the audiobooks were usually much cheaper than on iTunes.
