Unable to activate iPod for Audible

I've been an Audible customer for about 7 years and haven't had many problems with it and the iPod. Unfortunately I've just had my first. I went out today and got a 160GB iPod Classic. I went to deactivate my older 60GB iPod Video via Audible Download Manager and it wouldn't let me. It says No connected Audible devices found. Please connect your device to the PC. But it is connected. I even disconnect and reconnect, but no go. The other thing it says is that Windows Media Player 11 cannot transfer Audible titles to your Apple iPod. Please use iTunes. However, WMP is not selected in Audible Download Manager and never was!

I called Audible and they were kind of clueless so they ended up just reseting all my activations. That was good as far as my old iPod was concerned, but when I finally got readty to activate my new iPod, the exact same thing happened.

I actually tried uninstalling and reinstalling Audible Download Manager, but that didn't help. I'm wondering if it might be something with iTunes 7.4.1? If anyone out there has this version and wants to try deactivating, that might help figure this thing out... Oh, I'm running this on a Windows Vista (Home Premium 32-bit) box.... Don't recal having this issue before...

i'm having this same problem and can't find a solution. I have a 30GB video running on Vista 32-bit. Was a solution ever found to resolve this?

Open iTunes, click on Advanced, click on Authorize Audible account. Login. Sync iPod.

Have you backed up your iTunes Library this week? If not, you are risking losing your music and playlists....
