HELP!

Just purchased an iPod Photo 60g for my wife and it's driving us crazy!!

Computer is a Mac G4 867Mhz with OS X 10.3.9.

iTunes 4.8
iPhoto 2.0.1

According to the info I've managed to find, the iPhoto requires iPhoto 4.0 or better to operate correctly - in other words, I need to purchase iLife to get the iPhoto 4.0.

If I had known that the software for loading and viewing our pictures on this iPod Photo was another $50, I would have just gotten the wife a regular old iPod.

Especially since I can't get the pictures to load without wiping out previously installed pictures on ths thing.

I managed to copy a few songs to this thing ok. However, I haven't tried to copy additional ones, so I don't know if the original downloaded songs will be wiped out too.

What's up with this iPod Photo? Is it because I don't have the right version of iPhoto, or am I doing something wrong? I don't want to pay for software that:

1) Should have bundled with this $450 paperweight
2) May not resolve this issue (leaving me with a slightly lighter $50 paperweight!)

Any help regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Pete

P.S.

Have tried to manually load pictures into iPod Photo following the users guide:

"To transfer photos from a folder on your hard disk to iPod photo:
1. Drag the images you want into a folder on your computer. If you want images to appear in separate photo albums on iPod photo, create folders inside the main image folder, and drag images into the new folders. "

But, to no avail. What can I do?

We have the same problem. Loved to know what we're doing wrong.

On the PC there is no iPhoto software but you can add pictures via iTunes. I would be very surprised if you can't do the it the same way on a Mac.

Due to iTunes being actually pretty rubbish for putting pics on you have no manual update option only an auto "sync" like the one for music.

I created a folder that I use as "ipod store" then any images that I want to add to my ipod I drop into the this folder and leave there. Now if you have the setting right soon as you plug in your iPod it will sync the images. Note though that if you want pictures on your computer but not on the iPod you will have to use a separate folder. This may mean having duplicates of images. I find it crazy that this is the only way.

Surly it would not have been so difficult to add some sort of drag and drop functionality to iTunes.
