I have had my 40 gig iPod photo for a week nowwith no problems. I fired it up today and all ofa sudden the screen was riddled with a crazy rainbow distortion just like TV's get when you put a magnet too close. I freaked out and found the reciept and packaging, Just as I was about to leave distortion disapeared. It came back for a second time and went away again. I can still see the colours in there ever so slightly when the unit has the backlight off but. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it gonnacome back. The colors clouded the screen so bad I couldn't even see the song titles. What should I do?
AlsoIt seems to be happening when I put it into the stock case it came with.

So I just returned it onlyto open the box to another one that had the problem even worse. Am I the only one to have this problem?

Here's the information on the rainbow.

Both of my iPods have it and it doesn't effect using the iPod.

Fair enough, but this isnt a problem that my ipod had when i bought it. It is also not a minor one. i cant even see song titles properly at all threw the crazy rainbow let alone photos. This is a serious defect that just happened. The one they gave me in return had already been opened so I assume it was returned as defective also. Oh well I will give it one more try by returning it to a difernet location but if it is defective also I will by a sony I guess. What a joke.

I purchased a 30gb IPod Photo 2 days ago and on the 2nd day, whilst in the car, the screen distorted. I also thought that I would need to return it and the screen distortion was visible even when the iPod was off. But then ½ hour later suddenly the screen was fine again. Based on the FAQ link provided it would appear that the tinting in the car window caused the problem.
My query though, based on the FAQ, is whether this means that the iPod screen itself does have a permanent distortion and should be replaced or whether this is something that may happen ocassionally for short space of time in which case I'm not too fussed. As an iPod Photo obviously the screen is critical if viewing photos.
