yep, the earphones i got with my ipod mini 4 months ago have officially gone BUST...terrible, 'buzzy' sound coming out of the earpieces. Oh dear. I'm not too bothered, as I have my little fantasy about acquiring a pink 6 gig at the moment (whether this will become a reality, well!), but is this problem common? anyone else had this issue after a relatively short time of having an ipod?
ps - i'm not even going to begin to whine about how my ac adapter only works when it wants to...
Aside from the fact that these overpriced, overrated, earphones are cheeply made, read highly profitable, they cant take too much of an overload. Say you crank up the iPod to full volume. They should blow within hours, if not minutes. That they last 4 months speak voulmes about your care. But they will blow, eventually.
& aside from the fact that they are made far too large for some people, therefore a real pain in the ears, they will blow.
Their length is made for a TALL Tutsi, therefore ungainly for most peolple, & they will blow.
Lastly, have you notice that the plug is straight, thus putting stress and sstrain on the headphone jack? Thus causing you to get your iPod replaced. &, you guessed it, they will blow.
In conclusion, they will eventually start rattliing.
Because of the loose fit for some people, they may tend to sound less pleasing than they could.
Check out some alternatives, you may well be surprised. Shures. ETY. Sony.

I've had mine for about 5 months, and have just started to blow out. Been looking at the Sony MDR-EX81LP's, except I can't find em anywhere in Canada.

I took my iPod Earphones out of the packet ready for a day of school, used them for a period of 4 hours... and in the 3rd they blew. Quality ey! Nevertheless I went out and bought a pair of JVC in-ear earphones for $37 australian, literally half the price of a similar pair of Sony earphones, and the JVC pair have a better frequency response. Bonus, they are white, but i am soon getting a pair of black ones.

Maybe after that "burn in" period they just "burn out"

Mine went after 6 months; i filled in a support request on Apple's website, and had a new pair arrive at my door the following day.

I recommend checking out new earphones, canal phones or headphones. Check out reviews and advice over at head-fi. They'll broaded your knowledge on current IEM's and headphones, also whats best for portability and home use.
