Can you plug in portable speakers into the head phone jack of the ipod? Where can I get such speakers if possilbe. Do they have to be special because of Apple product. Do not have to be high qulity speakers, we are talking about an audible not music. When traveling on a long trip I other people in the car would like to listen to the audible book. i do not want to go the the car kit connection, might not always take the same car.

These are the best sounding compact speakers around right now. They weigh 10oz and are about the size of a shoe. According to Creative 4 AAA batteries will last 35 hours (I can't confirm this because I haven't had mine long enough to tell) or you can run them off mains.
Great voulume for such a small beast. The trebels are clear, the bass is surprisingly good for speakers of this size (what can you expect from shoe-sized speakers?)

I have heard these, and they are very good for their size. But not quite as good as the i300s. IMHO they distort at a lower volume than the i300s.
