Copy songs from Mac ipod to a PC

Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. Hi - I have a Mac formatted iPod and I wish to start using it with a PC instead. To cut a long story short, it is a Windows HP iPod but I reformatted it to use with a Mac. I no longer have the Mac and I want to copy all my songs onto a PC and use it exclusively with a PC from now on.

Is there a way to do this without buying software (e.g. MacOpener). I no longer have a Mac but if necessary could probably get access to a friends if that would be of assistance.

I would also like to keep my playlists if possible.

Welcome. You can use YamiPod (link in sig - freeware link). It works on both windows & mac. If goes on the iPod drive.
