Is there a way to check hard drives?

Is there is way to know if the hard drives are not working?

constant clicking, silent (no whine), folder '!' error all spring to mind. if possible run a disk check from the ipod diagnostics menu.

you know whats funny.. lcd is broken.. haha, hmm you think it can be the main board>?

either the lcd itself or the mainboard yeah. does the ipod still play music just without the lcd? describe the problem in more detail!

nope.. doesn't play music.. i just bought a new hard drive, and installed it.. then it uploaded the songs and then i tried turning it off and it wouldnt shut off.. then it stopped. doesnt turn on anymore.. im fed up with ipods. ima just sell the broken one..thanks for your help though
