I like the foams but i can't justify spending so much money on replacements, so i'd like to buy some tri-flanges.
Should I buy the Shure ones? I have read random little comments saying the Etymotic flanges also work for the shure e3c's and work better?
Can someone please elaborate? Thanks.

There are two differences between the Shure and Ety triflanges:
1) Shure TFs have a longer "stalk." Shure did this with the idea that users would trim the stalk to an appropriate length.
2) Ety TFs are much cheaper.
I used Ety TFs just fine with my E3c's. The way I see it, better value and less work.

No no. You want the flanges for the ER4. Sorry... should've mentioned that.

Definetely get the Etymotic Er-4P flanges for the Shure E3c, they work great.

Are you guys still cutting the smallest flange? I guess since you get a 5 pack for the price of one of the shure ones, i could experiment.

I didn't. Three flanges gives you more isolation than two, obviously, so I never saw a reason to cut the small flange. Some people say cutting the small flange brings out the highs more, but the E3c is weakest in the lows, so I kept the small flange.
