iTunes wont detect my iPod

This happens every often, iTunes just dont seem to detect my iPod, the iPod updater works fine and installs the upadates and my pc also detects it has a external hdd like normal any help guys ?

Oh and in using Firewire for My Ipod and its G3

What letter does it show up as in my computer when connected?
