Hi,
I have recently bought a new pc and need to transfer my library onto my new pc. Do I transfer all my songs into the ITUNES directory on my new PC and then export some sort of library file from ITUNES and then import this file into ITUNES on my new PC??

Many thanks

Chris

Welcome. Do you want to move the iTunes software & files or only the songs?

If you want to move the files then you need to find all the program files and transfer them. They should be in a folder. If you use a download folder for all your downloads then it will be in there, otherwise you will have to use the search on your PC. They may be in a temp folder if you never set up a download folder. You need to get the .xml & .itl files to move playcounts & other song info.

Also do the same with the music folder. You can use the iPod as a HD to move the files also.

Hi thanks for your reply,

I just want to move my ITUNES Library to another PC. I have backed all the music files from the ITUNES directory onto a number of CD's.

So basically I will load the mp4's on the cd's into the new ITUNES directory on the new pc.

The only think I'm not sure about is how to transfer the library onto the new pc???
Many thanks

Import the CD's into the library. Be more specific about what your confused about. When you say library do you mean the music or the iTunes software app?

The ITUNES library in the ITUNES app. I take it I need to export that. Then import that file onto the new PC with ITUNES app on it.
