I have a small server at home, and I want to create a single music folder that both me and my wife can use with our Ipods. No sense in redundant space being wasted. WHen I try to move stuff to the directory, it gets an "unknown error".
Any help here?
We use iPods off a network drive all the time.
I suggest that you start from sratch.
Move all you music files to a directory on the network drive and ensure that it is accessible from the other PC. Clear everything from iTunes. Set the network drive directory as the source of the music in Preferences then use the Add folder option to let iTunes find all the music again.

Doesn't work. I can access the files, but ITunes says "An Unknown error occured (-36)" That is all. It doesn't even try to copy them.
