I'm torn. I love the Sony MDR-EX 51/71 in-ear phones, but I HATE the design of the cord (left short, right long) Are there any Sony MDR-EX 51/71s that have the Y shaped cord? (like the stock iPod earbuds) Link would be awesome!

Nope. Both models are neckchain style cords exclusively.

Pioneer is one of the largest music gear companies in the Japan, and you won't be disappointed by its Pioneer SE-CL30 (http://www.igearbox.com/product_info.php?products_id=106). These phones are comparable to the EX71s, and they have the Y shape cord.

Thanks for the suggestion but I read that you have to use the given extension cord with it. I hate extension cords! Yes, I'm very picky about my earphones :p

I might end up getting the Apple branded in-ear phones since they are Y shaped, no extension cord and I hear if you use the sony ear pieces with them they don't sound half bad...
