Hey, I've ordered an iPod Mini from Apple, and it's on it's way. Since I'm using Windows 98se, I'm formatting the iPod on a friend's computer. I've been debating about what software to use, and I've come down to Realplayer. How does it work, and if it sucks, what should I use (free)?

iTunes. Don't think it works with Win 98 though. Not sure of much that would wtill work on Win98, even including RealPlayer - they don't list sys requirements, but it would just really be best to get into a 21st century OS.

There was a member in another thread who uses Realplayer with Win98, and was happy with it.

While it's not quite as slick as iTunes, RealPlayer 10.5 should do the job for you. It also has many features that iTunes doesn't, such as "watched folders" and "remove missing media". RP rips CDs as 192Kbps AAC files by default. They are 100% iPod-compatible. I also feel that RealPlayer's AAC encoder is just a tad better than Apple's.

Ok, Realplayer it is. Does it sort songs into Albums, Artists, etc, like an iTunes loaded iPod, or is it sorted in a different method?

yes, it does arrange them according to the artists, albums, etc... and can even move ur files into directories.

but seems unicode support is not good enough, any comment?
