I have a new machine (no iTunes loaded yet) and want to transfer music from my iPod. I have searched the archives and have a game plan but wanting to know what order I need to do everything?
I have plugged the iPod into the new machine and see it as a hard drive and see the music files, but if I right click>copy, then paste to new machine, I get some odd file/whatever that won't copy and an error message shuts the process down.
Should I install iTunes then install something like PodUtil and do it that way?
My concern with that is when I first hook up the iPod after iTunes has been loaded (PodUtill too), it may default and automatically update from the new (empty) iTunes, wiping out the stuff on the iPod.
I know that to use a thrid party aplication, the iPod in iTunes needs to be set to "enable disk mode" but also, "auto launch" needs to be disabled too. How do I make sure that these options are set correctly without... wel you know, messing it up.
Thanks in advance, I've learned a lot from this forum
