This isn't an original idea. I was reading some tech stories on Yahoo News and found a story about Music Label 2005:
http://www.codeaero.com
It's basically a music manager. It doesn't support AAC files, so it's not something I would consider getting. However, that having been said, I was intrigued by one of the features -- the "loan manager." It has a section where you can indicate which CDs have been loaned to which people.
Since I listen to music primarily on my iPod, I have absolutely no problem letting friends and family borrow my CDs. Further, because I never really use the CDs once they're ripped to my iPod, I often forget to ask for the CDs back. It would be cool if iTunes had a section that let me indicate which CDs were loaned to which people.
I know that iTunes is more about managing digital music rather than CDs, but it would be a great addition in my opinion.
What do the rest of you think? If enough people think this is a good idea, I'll e-mail a link to this thread to Apple and maybe they'll consider implementing it. If most of you think my idea sucks, I'll delete this thread and forget about it. ;)
