I had a Pioneer headunit, but it was stolen recently. I've installed the factory headunit, using a cassette tape adapter and the sound quality is horrible. no bass.

so I've decided to get a new headunit.

I cant decide which brand to go for.

Alphine CDA-9847

Kenwood KDC-MP5028

Panasonic MXE-CQ-C5401U

What do you recommend? I need something with alotta bass.. probably MOSFET.

I'm looking into the same thing...
Crutchfield has the Kenwood with the Ipod adapter thingey (highly technical term) to connect the Ipod to the head unit, as well as XM connection. I think the Kenwood Ipod adapter got the best reviews on Crutchfield site. Probably your best bet.

\\mostly just a lil bump cause I'm curious as well...

Have you looked into the Clarion VRX755VD? I'm thinking about purchasing that vs. the three you mentioned -- it seems to have the best control interface and still has AV inputs so you can connect a navigation system, game system, etc. You can get both the adapter and the HU for less than $1k if you look hard enough. ;)
