does anybody put featuring artists into their MP3 tag...
personally I don't, I find it to be kind of annoying
does anybody agree with me?
and if you do use "featuring/feat./ft." how do you format it?
do you put it in the song title or in with the artist?...etc
Thanks,

The very few times that this is the case I do put "feat." in the artist field, usually between brackets.

I listen to a lot of R&B/Hip Hop and there are tremendous amounts of guest appearances. Not so much in Rock. But I like to know who's on the track so I definately use this. I put it in the Song field. The iPod only holds 21 characters (if I remember correctly) in the Artist & Album fields, ending up in having "..." at the end and not being able to see the whole field. This pretty much defeats the purpose of writing it in there.
I put it in the Song field resulting in something like "A Woman's Worth (Remix) feat Nas." You might want to use bracket to clarify the separation but I'm used to the way this looks. Plus if I have parenthases around remix or some sub-title it looks like overkill. Now on the iPod once it passes the amount of characters it can fit, it scrolls the text. Not only is this helpful, but it's also pretty cool looking .
Hope this helps.

Good question.
Actually in the interest of keeping the artist field uniform I enter the "featuring" info in the song title.
Example
Dave Matthews Band - Deed is Done (ft. Tim Reynolds)
This way when scrolling through the IPod I don't have 4 or 5 entries for Dave Matthews
ex.
Dave Matthews
Dave Matthews feat Tim Reyolds
Dave Matthews feat Pearl Jam
Dave Matthews feat Phish
I try and take the main artist and list the song with the "ft." in the song title.
Thats my preference at least

Right, that was my main concern as well. It was a pain when I wanted to select one artist to shuffle and I have 5 listings of the same artist with different featured artists.

Edit: spelling correction

I use feat. quite often, and yes it does duplicate artists, which is rather annoying, but still, it's not really a problem for me.

I also put feat. it in the song field. at first I puted it in the artist field, but it got pretty annoying, so i swiched it to the song field, and im pretty happy with it.

Yep, use the same practice as soulrock and SpideyPod.
Don't like to put the featuring in the artist, as it can get very annoying when scrolling artists, especially the Rap genre songs.

Yea the rap genre is probably more affected by "feat" than any other. One song could have 4 or 5 artists attached to it.
I have many many many many MP3's and I went through and re tagged every single one of them using the "feat" in the song title. Well it has made a world of difference in organizing my music collection and for me is the only way to go.
