Charging a Windows iPod using MAC

I have just joined this forum. This topic has probably been covered before but I cant find the thread.

Anyway, I have a windows iPod but I would just like to know if it would be possible to plug it into an Apple iBook just to charge it. Is this possible?

Be very careful doing this. iTunes is by default to auto-sync when an iPod is connected. This will result in all of your tunes being deleted off of the iPod and the tunes in the Mac's iTunes library getting copied to you iPod.

So, make sure auto-sync is turned off in iTunes.

Also, you really shouldn't be using the firewire to charge the iPod for extended periods of time. It can cause the HDD to spin, make sure you unmount it if you have a 3rd gen iPod this will be fine, but unmount it after connected so it only gets a charge.
