I completed this a couple days ago. Basically, routed the outputs of the iPod and XM and the inputs of the aux adapter to the ashtray area and made a rocker switched audio A/B switch out of the whole thing...pic for views, comments welcome!

I am looking to install my iPod in my 2000 Jetta. I only have the cassette player and CD changer in the trunk. I have read that in order to install the iPod, I will need to use the input currently used by the changer, making it obsolete. I would like to be able to still use my changer, and was wondering if you knew/thought a switch like yours could be used to switch between the iPod and the changer, instead of between iPod and XM......

Any thoughts?

Ideally, I'd like to install a dock in my ashtray and still have the use of my changer, if at all possible..... has anyone done this?

You can't do it...not with a stock CD changer and still have the deck control it. My switch just switches the audio inputs rather than the data back and forth to the cd changer

I was afraid of that. Not a big deal, just that I'd like to have an option to play a CD.... like when I pick up a new one, and want to listen to it right away in the car.... or a friend brings a disc along on a road trip....

Thanks for the reply.

I actually found a post on VWvortex that describes a way around this, so you can install the iPod and still use the changer. I'll post a link if anyone else is interested....
