hi
apologies in advance if this has been covered. i tried to search for it but can't see anything...

when i import my songs from my cd's they all come in as track 1, track 2, etc. is this avoidable? if i load two cd's then i have two tracks called track 1. etc.

my second question is about the battery. i change my songs almost daily so each time i plug in the ipod it starts to recharge. even if it is only plugged in for a couple of minutes, does this equate to one charge cycle? should i completely drain it every now and then?

many thanks

Re your first question, try being connected to the internet when you first put the cd in the drive. Then when you insert a cd and you have iTunes open (or iTunes is set as your default player), it should automatically launch the "Accessing Gracenote CDDB" message in iTunes (whatever that is - I think its some kind of database iTunes uses to try and recognise the CD). You should then get full track listings.

This has worked with all of the CD's I've imported so far (roughly 900 songs worth) except 1, which was a CD I got free from a newspaper, so it seems pretty foolproof.

Re your 2nd question I wouldn't say a couple of minutes charge equates to a full charge cycle. A full cycle would be from absolutely dead to full charge. The lithium-ion battery the Shuffle uses apparently has no "memory" so is not supposed to be affected by constant recharging. However, I've heard differing views on this (I asked a question on this forum about it myself), some people say you can charge and re-charge and re-charge without consequence, but I've read some scientific reports that don't recommend constant charging. Supposedly the best rate to keep it at is a steady 40% charge but how the heck you're supposed to know when that is I don't know.

Imho, a couple of minutes charge a day wouldn't hurt at all.

(Apologies for length)
