Why hasn't anyone given us firmware 2.0.2 on the 1st and 2nd generation ipods?

I mean, I know why apple won't do it, but is there some way just to get the firmware 2.0.2 and load it onto the 1st and 2nd generation ipods?

I think it is very wrong of apple to withhold these features from us, and you can't even really buy a 1st or 2nd generation ipod anymore, so it's not like they are hurting sales of 3rd gen by witholding this upgrade.

Simple answer: No.

And I think you're referring to 2.0.1--to my knowledge 2.0.2 isn't out yet....

Can someone get the source code and enable us 2nd gen, 1st gen ipoders to use the newest 3rd gen-only firmware?
I know little about computers, but I figure as long as it's only a software issue, then it can be done. Just curious as to why no one in the community has been updating firmware on our own, b/c I figure there are lots of tweakers out there.

1. It's illegal
2. Apple's not sharing
3. The firmware is designed specifically for the 3rd gen hardware which is different than the 1st and 2nd geners.

That about covers it.
