Show your addiction - how many songs have you downloaded from iTunes Music Store

Ok, I know most of you have extensive collections of music whether from ripping your own disc or via other means. But just curious, now that iTunes music store has been out quite a few months - how many songs have you downloaded from Apple's music store?

So far, only about 90 of the more than 4000 songs on my iPod I have purchased from the iTunes Music Store... but I keep on purchasing more stuff as time goes on. 99% of the material on my iPod and iTunes library comes from tracks encoded off of CDs already in my library. For new music I first check to see if I can get it through the iTunes Music Store, if not, than I will purchase the physical CD... Also some artists, I will purchase the physical CD regardless. Otherwise, the iTunes Music Store is more convenient.

What happens if you have to restore your iPod, or if you drop it and the songs are erased. Is there a way to get the song back from iTunes store?

Well if anything happens to the iPod, the purchased songs are still on my Mac's hard drive, plus I regularly back them up to optical media (CD-R or DVD)... so even if they were lost on my Mac and iPod, I would still have them backed up.

So to answer your question, if you were to restore your iPod or reformat or get a new iPod, all the songs including songs purchased via the Music Store will be re-synced back to your iPod from your computer.

Wow, interesting but not surprising to see we have an over 101 response. But you figure if you can get the songs you want without having to buy a cd with more songs you don't want, then it's worth the price.

At the time when I voted, I was under 100... but it won't be long before I surpass 101, but I can not re-vote.

It depends on the artist... Sometimes I will purchase the entire album, and many other times it is just select tracks here and there.
