Alpine 9833: Alt. Remote Option?

I installed the Alpine 9833 with the KCA-420i adapter about a month ago and have been really happy with it. I only have one minor complaint. The remote included with the 9833 has limited functionality with the iPod with no button for the search function (unless I'm missing something!).

I noticed that Alpine has another remote that comes with the DVD player head units (part # RUE-4190) which is also supposed to work with most of their non-video head units. Has anyone used this? Can it be used to access the various search features (artist/album/playlist)?

I also have integrated XM and while it allows direct # entry of XM stations - absolutely a nice feature - its not quite enough to justify the additional purchase.

Well, considering that remote also doesn't even provide access to audio functions it's not surprising it won't access the search functions. No idea if the dvd remote supports extra functions, doubt it, but let us know if you find out differently.
