Hello,
I was curious if the Dock Connecter could be hooked up to those car charger kits? I want to have the line out from the dock to go to my car stereo, but I don't know if I can have it powered. Does it work without power? I heard the sound is much better from the dock, or is there an alternative solution to this?

Anyone? Maybe I can clarify...
What I want is to be able to play my ipod with the audio connection through the dock connecter (since I heard it sounds much better). I don't want to use one of those head unit converters, because they cost too much, and I'm buying a new stereo/speakers on top of it.
Is there anyway to take the dock, and allow it to plugin to the cigarette lighter area, or am I just going to have to connect an AUX cable to the top?
If ANYONE can help me out, please feel free to do so.

I would assume that the dock would work unpowered, since it just bridges the line-out connection on the ipod to a line-out jack on the dock. Also, you should be able to power the dock with a car charger that uses the dock connector type plug, and just plug it into the dock instead of the iPod. Another solution to get a line-level out in your car would be to use a Sik imp (http://www.sik.com/imp.php). Hope this helps.

Thanks! Now that I think about it, I might just use that alpine kit though, because I can't seem to find any players at stores that have AUX input, I thought it would have been more popular. :(
