hi,

another post with troubles connecting ipod to pc.

i have a docking station and i am trying to use the USB connection. It works fine with my laptop but not with my desktop.

the desktop recognizes the ipod as a new drive E: and I can move files
from and to it, but cannot play the files, ipod manager does not recognize my ipod neither does musicmatch.
the ipod shows the "do not disconnect" sign and everything seem to work fine, except the software does not want to see my ipod.

i tried to uninstall the software and re-install it several times.
it didn't work.
i tried to format ipod from the desktop. it works (meaning i could format the ipod) but then the software problem remains.

any advice?

Can you do a restore w/the 2.0.1 Updater (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download)? After that does it work?

You might want to try one of the other uploading programs.

Thanks for the reply. I have been away, let's see if now I can fix this.

I cannot do the restore with the updater. I am trying other softwares, namely EphPod.

My first question is: do I need to have macopener? do I need to buy it?

Second: I started the ephpod2 wizard and plugged in the ipod.
The drive with ipod is in the list. When I try to open it the wizard says that ipod does not have the correct folder structure and prompts me to rebuild it.

Should I do it?
Should I first get macopener? Should I try and see what happens?
