ipod Radio Tuner

I have a 40GB 4th Gen ipod, and ive been using iRock, an old radio tuner that i got for my gen1 ipod, and it used to work fine(with my 40gb too) but now it is really, really picky about where it has to be to get reception, and it is usually bad. So im sitting in my car, and i can't just set it on the dashboard, or set it in a cupholder, i have to place it directly in the middle, half hanging off the center console. It drives me nuts.

So im looking for a new radio tuner for my ipod, but i don't want a car charger, as i use it at friends houses a lot too, and play it through thier speakers, so i what tuner should i get if i dont' want a charger?

Are there any other options, because i don't want to use the charger, and i want it to be battery powered.
