a little confused re Firewire or USB2

I bought a firewire card for my PC. Does the Ipod charge in it while connected to my PC or do I have to switch the cable over to the charger?

I was reading some of the other messages that indicated people were using a y cord to both dock and charge simultaneously.

Yeah i think you can charge it through the firewire connection.

Yes, Firewire will charge your iPod while connected. USB2 will not charge by itself. You;ll need the special dual Firewire/USB cable to get power to your iPod while doc'd

no harm in letting the iPod sit in the dock for charging over extended periods. Just make sure it's unmounted from the PC.
