PLEASE can someone help. I need my data on my ipod. ....My 3g 20Gb wont get past the Apple logo. I can put it into Disk Mode and run the disk check, which says everything is OK. But OS X 10.3.8 wont mount the disk, saying it does not recognise the disk and offering me initialise/ignore/eject. If I click ignore and run disk utility or Tech Tool Pro 4, I get the following error:
Repairing disk for “disk2s3”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Invalid B-tree node size
Volume check failed.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)
Repair attempted on 1 volume
0 HFS volumes repaired
1 volume could not be repaired
Is there any way I can salvage the data, as the ipod is telling me the disk is OK. I have a HD I can copy the entire thing onto.

nada. Tried the following:

1. new os install (tiger)
2. battery out, firewire port reset on powerbook
3. ipod disk mode + diskwarrior
4. ipod disk mode + tech tool pro
5. ipod disk mode + disk utility

all without effect. Most situations the drive was not recognised.

My plan is to (a) click initialise from the os x prompt and try to recover my data using any/all of the above softwares plus maybe iPodsalvage (any reviews on that one guys?).

Big sigh. All because I clicked "OK" to a Apple Software Update to 10.3.8 with my ipod plugged in. (so easily done, especially in the dock-enabled, multi-tasking environment I was working in.)
