First off let me just say that I have feen faithful lurker to the lounge since my first foray into the ipod community almost a year ago when i bought a mini. Since then i've upgraded to my 40 gig 4G, and 512 Shuffle. I use this site as my bible for all things ipod, and have made all of my accessory purchases though it's guidance.
And now, i ask the community for assistance, as I am at the end of my rope. Heres the story:
OK. So in my pc I have a 120gig HDD, and have it partitioned into a 10gig section upon which windows resides, and the rest of my stuff is in the other. Because I've had a hideous time with video playback, codecs etc (damn you windows, i am buying a Mac as soon as Tiger is released...!). i rescently decided that it would be a good idea to format and re-install windows on the 10gig partition.
Subsequently I think i did myself more harm than good, as when i managed to get windows back on, my programs were (naturally) mostly messed up. So i used Norton Systemworks 2005, clean broken files, and registry and all that. But still my comp is not recognizing my ipod.
I tried mounting my ipod in my family's other computer and it recognized it.
So my question is this, how can i salvage the music loaded on my ipod and keep all the ratings that i've made(over 2500 tracks rated) and get my comp to recognize my ipod. I hope i haven't dug my own grave here, any help would be greatly appreciated.
