Just received the Capdase Metal Case and a set of Clear Screen (& ClickWheel) Protectors for the iPod mini. Both from Vinko.com, shipped from Hong Kong to the UK! (really great service)

Ipodlounge has already reviewed this case, so I won't bother. Just to say I got the white/brushed-metal version, which is nice although maybe not quite as good looking as the shiny case!

Two things though: The little square textures on the rubber case are on the inside, so there isn't much rubber in contact with the ipod - makes it easy to slip in and out (good for me). Also, the case does make the ipod pretty fat and heavy... although you can just use the rubber part, and can add the metal when required.

I also got the screen and clickwheel protectors, more as an afterthought as they're pretty cheap. The pack includes 2 clear screen protectors, 2 clear wheel protectors, and 2 clear select-button protectors.

Anyway, these bits of plastic are great! The backing peels off, and they just 'suck' themselves onto the screen/clickwheel. I was expecting to get bubbles and all sorts, but they're flawless! The screen protector is pretty stiff so should stop all scratches, while the wheel protector is thinner - both are precision cut and perfect fits.

It appears the protectors use a silicone 'sticky' layer, which gives the no-bubble effect. It's not glue, as any dust/lint can be scraped off with a fingernail, and you can pull the protectors off (and re-apply) by using a bit of sticky tape on the corner.

However, the select-button cover is flat, and so doesn't really stay on for long. The edges lift up and it keeps falling off...

Overall, I really like the clear protectors... I was worried about them leaving residue, but there is zero chance, not even after sweaty hands have been messing around with the ipod! Although you lose the silky touch of the click wheel, it protects that lovely white plastic from dirty fingers!

I was previously using the clickwheel cover that comes attached to the ipod, but it's bigger than the actual wheel and resists any movement (clicks)... the Capdase ones are really high quality and very recommended!

At the moment I'm not using the case, so I have to be a little careful when sliding the ipod into my pockets - if the screen cover catches I guess it could come off... but it's not happened yet!

Chris.

I got the exact same case as you, and the "unbreakable" screen cover that came with it works pretty well. The problem with it is that it came with a whole bunch of scratch marks. The scratches are all vertical, as though somebody had scuffed it against the ground with a foot. Other than that, still pretty happy about my purchase.
