I just received a free ipod from a mac user. 3rd generation, 10mb He used it with a mac...I have a pc with windows milennium.

Is it possible to just "hook it up" to my pc and start rolling? The handbook is MIA, so any help is appreciated.

If it is possible, can I access the music he had stored on the ipod and keep\delete at will? Can I move the music from the ipod to my pc without using itunes (ipod soft or something similar)?

thanks.

Yes, it is possible.
The best way would be installing trial version of XPlay (http://www.mediafour.com/products/xplay/) and copy music from iPod to your PC.
Then convert your iPod to Windows using Apple iPod Updater under some Windows 2000/XP machine as is outlined at http://www.geocities.com/mmcfly8888/
Now you can uninstall XPlay and upload music back to iPod using your Windows ME machine.
