hi... I have a USB 1.1 port on my computer, Windows 2000 SP4, and a 3G 15GB touch wheel iPod. The cords the iPod came with are firewire, but my computer is old, and isn't Firewire compatible. Is there any way to upgrade so it will connect, or is it possible to get a USB cord for iPod? I'm short on cash, so the least expensive solution is preferable, but right now I'm stuck with about fifty songs on my iPod that my friend loaded for me from her computer... please, any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

You're going to have to buy a firewire card for your computer. Get a Belkin firewire card, I hear they're the best for a low price.

And you may also want to consider upgrading to Windows XP. iPod is not compatible with Win2k, although there are workarounds that are described elsewhere in these forums.

Descendant's solution is probably the best--

You could also buy a usb cable for your iPod, but since your computer only has usb 1.1, transfers would be very slow.

iPods ARE compatible with Windows 2000:

it's only versions of Windows older than 2K that don't work.

I stand corrected. Sorry if I caused any problems or confusion.
