Greetings all...

I have recently upraded my iPod software, and have inadvertanmtly deleted about 75% of my tunes and am hoping that someone can help me retrieve them without having to reset my ipod and rerip.

long and the short of it, I have a 3 year old PC 20 Gig Model, I used '98 and 'hacked' in through ephpod and xplay. My fiance & I bought a new XP laptop (and she got her first pod) so I hooked mine in to the new system to rip some tunes through iTunes (since I heard it wouldn't be a problem)

Unfortunately iTunes didn't recognize my pod at first and I couldn't eject it. Having had some bad experiences in the past when I disrupted the firewire connection on '98/ ephpod, the only way I could safely ejext the pod was to update the ipod software.

My database looked ok... all my artists and tunes were listed but when I hit play on pod shuffle mode, it only played about 20% of the music that was once there. (Skipped 30 tunes, played one... lather, rinse, repeat)

In the past, I lost my pod's database using 98 (no song text/meta data) but could see the mp3's if I browsed the pod as a drive. I recovered my music by deleting the iTunes database file (containing just the text) and runing the probe ipod for lost music option through ephpod.

Any suggestions on how to link my song title dbase (still entact - viewble in the pod) with the mp3's (assuming they're there, I can't browse the pod as a drive anymore) so I can get back my music and keep the granddaddy running in the future.

It would mean a lot to me. I had my apt broken into and lost/had stolen several hard-to-find/out-of-print CD's that only exist on the pod now.
