Hey all,

I need to ask a quick question. I am wanting to buy a new small portable MP3 player. I am not sure which one, but something that is portable and cheap to go on a boat.

I have a new boat and my clarion CD player does not support MP3 cd's. But I did notice it does have a AUX hookup. Now could I just get any MP3 portable player that has the head-phone hookup and plug in a single lline to the MP3 player head phones jack to AUX on my Cd player and would it work? Thanks:confused:

Yes, the Aux will work with the Headphone Line out. I have a Clarion stereo in my car with an AUX line and my iPod, heck even my iBook, Dell Laptop and Plam all work with it.

The AUX port is just an line-level version of the headphone output, so there is no real difference between the two, except the AUX out is independent of the volume control on the player. If you use a headphone out instead then you will have to adjust the volume till you get the best sound (have it too high and it will distort, too low and you get alot of hiss on the audio) between 50% and 75% usually seems best to me, but YMMV depending on the player and head unit.
