It seems that all of the "cases" out there are merely skins of one type or another. When traveling from city to city, I really dislike dealing with cables and loose stuff while going through airports.

I'm looking for a travel case that meets the following needs:

- It stores my mini, the ac adapter and cable, headphones, and an all purpose car/airport power adapter. Securely, safely, visibly - and compact....like a thick paperback book.
- Gotta deal with TSA. A translucent/transparent plastic case would be nice. Something rather gorilla-proof.

I'm pretty much to the point of building my own using a plastic utility or hobby case and soft ESD foam. Cutting out indentations/spaces for my stuff.

Any thoughts? Any existing solutions out there?

Case Logic makes a generic MP3 case with interior pockets that might fit the bill.

Hey man...when you can't find anything you really like, go ahead and build your own. You can tailor it to your exact needs, add in any spiffy features you want, and you have the satisfaction of not having spent $60+ on something that is so custom made.

I speak from experience...u'll proly see my thread (cheap solution part 2)...i built my own case thing for my mini coz i didn't wanna spend money on something i knew i wouldn't like. I'm happy :D

Waterfield Designs makes a great travel case for both the mini and the standard iPod, I highly recommend them.

You know even though I posted above about buying a Case Logic I actually ended up purchasing a Waterfield Designs travel bag. I got the Ipod Speaker bag because I also have the Altec Lansing Inmotion but the entire line of their bags are great.

The bag came on Friday and it BLOWS the Case Logic away...well worth the $50 or so it cost me.
