I'm interested in a "starter iPod" w/ about 5GB of storage for $160 or less.
I've been trying various websites to buy a new one but since CompUSA sold out of them today before filling my order (how heartbreaking), I really am in despair about getting an ipod on my budget of $200 (hopefully less). I don't want to trigger a bunch of postings re: what is a fair price, I'm willing to pay for a used 5GB (in *good* condition) what CompUSA was charging for a new one as of 3 pm today, that is fair, I should think.
Here are my 2 newbie questions:
The man at the Apple store assures me that an iPod plugs into my USB port and works, regardless of my OS. Then when I'm on Amazon, etc. I see things that say (for Mac) and (for Windows). Or even Formatted for Windows. What does this mean?
I have a relatively new (<2 yo) Toshiba Satellite (not a mac, obviously) with a USB port. I never knew USB ports had numbers on them like 1.1 and 2, and a quick look in my XP Professional control panel doesn't indicate what # of USB port I have. Can I assume I have a 2.0 USB port, if not, how can I find out what I have?
please email me @ ennrage@hotmail.com if you've got one to sell, and thanks for making this a v. informative site for those of us who don't know anything about iPods!
