Here is a link to some pictures of the iPod mount that I made. I thought I would share this with the rest of you to see what you think. I'm thinking of making another one, and making it a little more refined, but I think it turned out pretty well for a first try. The arm is a recycled cell phone mount, and the actual iPod holder is made from a piece of plexiglass bent to the shape of the iPod. The sides were bent in slightly to give it a good grip on the iPod, without actually doing any damage to it. I am going to try and mount the belkin auto adapter to the bottom so I can get rid of the ugly cord coming out the top. Incidently its connected to my stereo with one of the cd changer adapters, and it works, and sounds much better than the old inline FM modulator I was using.

Well, I am envious of your skillful modifications. Alas, I wish I could do something like that... Nice Job!

Real nice setup there. I've actually been planning a little plexy glass work myself, except mine is for a stand on my desk.
I know a few guys that deal with plexy glass that would be more then happy to help me out. I've got a really nice design for it as well, it's just a matter of putting things on paper and sending it into the shop.
If i had a car, I'd build a holder for it as well ;)

Yeah, you did a great job. And think, it will be so easy for you to to integrate the Belkin thing by just cutting a hole for the dock. Ingenious!:D
Nice job on the mount!
I haven't heard of a CD changer adapter. How does it work? Also, I've heard that FM modulators are much better than FM transmitters (like the Belkin), so I'm a bit surprised that your results were so bad.

Rads, It was mostly because I would still get some interference from other stations with the modulator. Also, in order to connect the modulator to my factory stereo I had to use two antennae adapters, which dramatically dropped my reception on my radio. As far as the aux-in adapters they are available on a few different sites, one such being http://www.installer.com/ They plug into the back of your factory radio in place of the oem cd changer, their are alot of vehicles I think that can use these adapters.
I was thinking today that it might look cool to add a LED inserted into the back of the plexiglass so that the edges glow around the iPod in the dark, just a thought.
downinit,
Thanks for the reply. From what I've read, the factory unit in my Infiniti has absolutely no way to connect an auxiliary source like an iPod, so an FM modulator or transmitter is my only choice.
I like your idea of a LED, though!
