DJ smooth who Kay Slay and Kid Capr predicted would be the hottest producer for 2005 just got signed to Bad Boy. He was previously signed to TCOOO records where he produced the 'War' instrumental which got every rapper in the industry wanting to work with him.

I think the main reason Bad Boy was not able to rebound after BIG died and Mase became a preacher was simply a lot of bad luck. Shyne the best rapper on the label at that time got locked up, then Black rob got sick, who knows what happened to G-Dep, The first MTV making the Band did not produce the hot talent he was hoping for and the Mase comeback failed. I am still not counting Diddy out though, he is currently doing another Making the Band (all females) and with the signing of New york's hottest producer DJ smooth, I think AfterMath and G-Unit could be a bit worry. Maybe this time next year Diddy will be quoting one of Biggie lines to AfterMath, 'Your reign on the top was short like Leprechaun'

So P.Diddly, some producer with one apparently hot song and some girls from a talent show are going to take over are they
I'm thinkin'....... NO CHANCE !!!
Listen up, buddy....
Bad Boy Records are a one-artist wonder. They discovered the greatest rapper of all-time in Biggie and since his death and (before) have released nothing but commercial bull####.
Total - Generic, un-attractive girl group
Puffy - Worst lyrics than Fred Durst's.
Mase - A disgrace to any rapper who's ever picked up a mic
Lil' Kim - Smut, no talent whatsoever
Dream - HA! HA! HA!
Da Band - One or two hot songs, the rest was wack
Shyne - First album was mediocre at best (I owned it)
C'mon man....they have absolutely nothing left. Time to move on.
They were really close to signing The Game though, don't count them out yet.

I can't disagree with you, but if he was lucky enough to find Biggie and don't forget he also found Mary J. blige for Uptown, what makes you think he can't do it again. I think signing DJ Smooth was a good start and don't be surprise if in the near future he get a talen like Nas.

My thoughts exactly.
I won't even get into a debate as to whether or not DJ Smooth is a good producer. Let's say for the sake of argument that he is. However, without talent on the mic, good production isn't going to make Bad Boy a success.
They've got nobody and, with the shape they're in, they aren't going to get anybody.

Exactly. They also signed Big Gee who has being creating a big buzz on mixtapes throughout New York. There are also a lot of other artists heating up the mix tapes scene right now, so don't be surprise when Bad Boy gets back on the scene. P Diddy is also dropping his own album this year.

I know that many of you have a distaste for Bad Boy....but please lets not forget that Puffy own the airwaves for a solid 5-7 year span....everything that was hot was Bad Boy! Since all of his big name talent has left....he still has managed to make some good albums. For example:
Two 112 albums before the switched labels
Loons album had some success
G-Depps Albums may have gone 1 or 2 times plat.
Lets not forget the Faith album before she switched labels.
Ness and Babs has some potential to get something going.
I also heard that at one point....Foxy Brown was signing to Bad Boy...I do not know if it is true or not. Also Craig Mack promised to drop an album on the Special Delievery remix.....but that never made it to see the light of day. Puffy still has the skills and business sense to make good records....he just needs the talent around him to bring it to life.
Personally, I have been a fan of Bad Boy since Mary's first release and Craig Mack....he will see the top of the charts again....Remember.....He Cant Stop....Wont Stop!
