Well i currently own sony ex71s and i really like them. But lately i have been in the market for some high end headphones. i had been reading the fourms and i knew that most people hated the bose phones and i didnt really understand why. i had always thought bose made quality products.
well even after hearing all this, i was still convinced the bose phones were the ones for me. so just about an hour ago i made a trip to the local best buy to purcahse the bose triports. thank God that best buy had some triports on display that you could listen to, because if they hadnt been on display i would have ended up basically flushing $150 down the toilet.
my first impression was that the triports felt somewhat cheap. the plastic seemed really weak and brittle. then as soon as i started listening to the triports i noticed that they were extremely base heavy, i mean who in God's name could possibly think that these pieces of **** were worth $150. i guess it does say bose on the side and thats what ur paying for.
I completely agreed with the phrase "no highs, no lows, its gotta be Bose"
I mean the triports had a really flat, base heavy sound. the sound was in no way crisp or sharp. I strongly prefer my ex71s over the triports.
what i have decided to do instead, is take a run over to the apple store tomorrow and spend my money on a decent pair of in-ears. The choice is between the sure e2s or the e3s. i cant really decide if i should throw out a little more cash for the e3s......
either way i know that the sure phones are quality and i can wait to pick em up tomorrow:D
thanks for lookin:)

Lol, nice. There's no kind of stores that let your try headphones/earphones where I live so I couldn't add anything to what you've already said. I have both the E2c's and the E3c's and since you have commented on the heavy bass from the Triports, I think you should spend that little bit more on the E3c's. Their bass is much more clearer than the E2c's and the highs are much more precise.

The bass on the E2c is more like the sony 71SL but less muddy. I feel that the E3c doesn't have that much bass. It wasn't as fun listening to 'rap crap' w/o as much bass. I also listento Electronic/Dance (i.e. Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method) so bass is really important for me since most of the beats in those songs are bass beats. However, When I listen to classical music (ex. Brahams, Chopin, etc) the E3c has better instruments separation, for example - the cello sounded more natural. So really up to you, and what kind of music you listen to. Personally, I do not think the E3c is worth $125 compare to the Shure E2, which is only $62.
To sum it up, E2c is a better value.

Wait a sec... I basically only listen to Rock and Rap and sometimes some Pop (Michael Jackson!). I think these earphones are very capable of producing decent, clear bass. I use the equalizer "latin" and that adds some bass whilst lowering the treble. Once they've broke in and you have it on latin or rock, I can hear a bigger difference in terms of sound quality, compared to the difference in bass. Another thing is that the E2c's are much uglier and larger than the E3c's (you want to look cool as well as having good earphones). Even though I do love my E3c's much more than my E2c's I don't think there is a $60 difference in sound quality. If you have the extra money get the E3c's.

Wow, I love the Triports, and I never got the feeling that the sound was flat or totally bass-heavy. Maybe you tried a bad set?
Anyhow, I think it's funny that you like your EX71's more because the Boses are too bassy. I tried the EX71's and found the bass to be overpowering, and too muddy for enjoyment.

well, those bose triport are made in china. that shows you the craftmanship of the product. even if you did purchased it from bestbuy, you can still return it with no restocking fee. i think bose triports are more advertised for people who travel by air. with all the noise from the planes engine, i would think the triport would work out great.

LOL, everything is from CHINA! Well anyways, 'ugliness' of earphone doesn't not matter doesn't transform into ugly sound. Look at GRADO!

Thanks for the comments everyone.
I am just about to walk out the door and head over to the apple store and pick up either the E2s or E3s, im still not quite sure though. I have been doing lots of research and i am leaning towards the E3s. I kinda prefere the smaller, lighter design.
The only thing I am worried about is that i may have trouble getting a correct seal. I hear that the yellow foam is the way to go though.
I will post an update tomorrow.
thanks again

Listening to pair of Sennheiser HD212 Pros and my friends Triports, they are exactly the same.
All you're doing is spending 100$ extra for psychological comfort, and no real world performance boosts.

Just go to Head-fi and you will head plenty on how bad the Bose are. I listened to them at the Bose store in the MOA, and was not impressed. For $100+ you can definitely get better. I'd try checking out the Sony D66 Eggo's if you want some degree of portability. If you are looking for home use, then why are you posting in an iPod forum, jk, but you could also check out Grado SR-60 or SR-80, Beyerdynamic DT321, or Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. I think you'll find much better sound from any of these headphones.

Well I have had the E3c for a few days now and they are excellent. Very comfortable, the cords are very thick and sturdy, and the sound quality is incredible. I'm tring to listen to them as much as I can because I hear that it takes around 100 hours to fully break them in.
Thanks for the imput everyone.
