As you know the standard ipod earbuds are pretty bad. I have gone through about a 7 pairs all with the same problem, the blow out, now ive had alot of headphones before and some of them do blow out but not after 2 or 3 weeks. Ive complianed to apple and they tell me that they havent seen this problem with anyone else but they replace them as long as there not really damaged visibly. I know that i am not he only perosn whith this problem but i dont under stand why they blow out....any ideas would be great

it doesn't matter how load he uses it, if they break after such a short time then they are clearly inferior

i would suppose so. but i have gone through about 7 ( no lie) pairs on them i find that hard to belive that 7 of them in a row would blow out in a short time....does anyone else get this problem

me too blown,i thought i was on my own till i found this forum... it is unexceptable.... they are obviously inferior to any bogstandard highstreet earphones.. i use £4.99 phillips now.. thats balls when you say you are listening too load they should be able to stand the MAX volume the product can put out,

i knew i wasnt the only one....i dont get also why they cant withstand the max volume from the ipod they rattle and sound horrible and make you want to get rid of them...the only reason i keep getting new ones is the look that they have the all white all the other all white ones are ugly or too expensive

Daaang, 7 pairs is a lot.

7 Pairs is a lot.. I listen to my music about 50%.. I have had headphones go out on me before. A pair of Koss headphones went out on me recently, and I noticed what the problem is. There is plastic that holds the wires together, the plastic can break and the wires rub up against eachother and the headphones go out.

I have had Koss earbuds go out..

I have never had problems with any other brand.. the Apple headphones sound great, and they are the ONLY headphones I use on my Ipod..

Why do I buy Koss headphones.. They are cheaper then dirt. I use a big set of Koss "Ear-Muffs" for my radios (I am an amateur radio operator, and its nice to listen with the big "Ear-Muffs") I tried my Koss headphones on my Ipod once, and it did not sound good at all.

Some people have bad experience. All I can do is wish you luck, and hope that you don't have the same problem again.

BTW: I have turned my Ipod up a few times just to see how loud it got, and did hear the rattleing sound. Still if you are hearing that sound, you might want to turn your Ipod down. It has to be like al the way up to do that.

iPac

hmm, i listen to alot of rap/ r-n-b.

Weird if it is that type of music that does it.

Maybe the bass ?? rap, r-n-b and dance all have pretty heavy bass usualy ?

I dont know about you, but my stock headphones aren't to great. When they are loud, like 80%, the right bud sounds alittle distorted. My song h.ear sound better, clearer and less distortion. btw, what is sound check for?

I'm pretty sure I blew my left one yesterday, but I'm not sure, it only sounds odd sometimes. Someone was saying you can tell apple that they broke or went staticy or something and they'll send you new ones? whats the deal?

i went to my local apple store and i told them my problem and they replaced them at the store...it also depends on how long you've had them

Those standard iPod ear buds are horrible.
I need to get a new earphone fast.

I was amazed at how good the Apple stock buds sounded compared to my over-the-ear headphones I used to use for my laptop. Never had a problem, though I lied and told Apple they died so I had a spare pair in case anything happened. =) They didn't make me send the original ones back. I cheated the system!

...Maybe I'm weird... but think of it this way. The louder you play your music, no matter with what device, the higher your volume tolerance will be. You're destroying the sensitivity mechanism in your ear by constantly exposing it to super-loud music.

I wouldn't be worried about the earphones at this point if you've already gone through so many -- I'd be worried about my ears. You should re-evaluate how loud you really need your music to be. Sit in a quiet room and play the sound as soft as you can while still hearing all the parts. For your own good.

Just because you *can* blow your ears out doesn't mean you should.

Being a sensible music-enjoyer, I love my little buds. Though, I am curious where to get more black foam covers. I keep losing them, and I like the cushy feeling. I really don't want to use other earphones. They're so wonderful. Even if they do sorta scream, "Mug me! I have an iPod product!"

Most headphones that come with portable DAP's suck. The Apple one's are actually half decent though. One thing (which is probably good for you) is that you can try listening to your music at a lower volume, or use some MP3 Gain software.

Shuffinator, Sumanjin, one of ipodlounge.com's sponsors, sell the foamy's in different colors, and radioshack has them for about 4 dollars.

Truly the iPod earbuds dont' sound bad compared to other pack in earbuds. I remember the one's that came with my RioVolt and my Sony Minidisc player. Oh the horror...

Yup mine blew up too. Didn't like the soundcheck on either. EQ is usually set to Acoustic, sounds like better clarity. I was trying to find replacements for the originals but it appears they don't sell them solo and they want you to buy the remote with it, which I already own.

I got replacement foam cover things for the earbuds really cheap at RadioShack, and the ones from radioshack actually seem to stay on.

I too have just recently experienced some problems with my earbuds. One of my friends at school used my iPod, and when I got it back, I noticed an annoying rattle in one earbud. I went to the Apple support site and tried to fill out a repair form. All I keep getting is this:

"We're Sorry! We do not have your data in our system. Please contact Apple for assistance. You can find the right phone number for your location by going to Contact Us"

Could my registration maybe not have gone through yet? I just registered today. Anyone have the same problem or know why this is happening? (Also, my iPod is only a few months old, so the warranty is still in effect right?)

I've blown out a few pairs of apple buds myself... they're not very high quality, but they ARE better than most free earbuds in terms of sound quality. Now, if you really want to see them struggle with providing decent sound, rip a CD or two in apple lossless format. Each song file will be about 30 megs, but you'll hear an incredible increase in the detail of your music... no compression. Then try a decent pair of earphones (and no, Bose Triports don't count) with the lossless files... you'll understand why the apple buds are free. Most people argue in favor of the apple earphones because they've never even heard their music in its intended quality...

Oh, so you're saying just get new ear phones, not the Apple ones? For some reason I'm still getting the "We're Sorry! We do not have your data in our system. Please contact Apple for assistance. You can find the right phone number for your location by going to Contact Us" message everytime I try to sign in using my AppleID in the support section. What's going on!?

About the Apple Earbuds in my experience. I listen to my music usually at 25%, sometimes fifty, but never above that. My headphones still rattle after a couple of weeks and sometimes blow. Im not listening to my music loudly, these are just piece of crap headphones.

I can't believe this. I called Apple Support, and now I looked through the website and found that that was my only free call the the support line. Next time I have to pay a wild fee! The part I am most angry about is the Apple Support person I talked to said to go to the exact website that I was having problems with, which helps me in no way. I guess I will file a complaint and go buy different ear phones.

Maybe all you guys' iPod have some sort of short in the headphone jack, and it sends out too much power... Yes, I made that up, but it's possible.
