Well, I don't have more than 1 hour with my new iPod, when I listened my music with the white ones it was a bit dissapointed.. I thought it was about EQ, nothing. then I got a lot more dissapointed cause I thought the iPod got bad sound quality... now I'm listening with my old sony earphones (only $10 dollars) and they sound A LOT better than the apple ones.

nobody will see me with white earphones now :(

I just got my iPod today, and I gave up using the supplied Apple earbuds after 10 minutes of trying... I cannot get them to stay in my ears! They kept falling out; all I had to do was turn to look at something across the room and out they came! Now I'm using my old Sony ones instead. They're still earbuds (sorta) but they have a peice of plastic that wraps around my ear. I wouldn't doubt that they sounded better anyway.

yeah.. no doubt iPod is an amazing music player.. but you should get a better earphones if you're paying 350 dollars.

Why? Most people don't care, so it's not worth apple charging more, or spending less on other parts of the ipod, just to supply a better pair of headphones. Anyone that is really serious about sound quality will buy their own pair anyway.

Same here. So far I've had good experiences with both the earbuds (especially if I use the black foams, which seems to give some hold) and the Apple in-ear phones.

Yer, I found using the black foam covers you get in the box to be a realy help. The sound isn't that bad for me. Maybe because I have rubbish hearing, maybe each headphone is different.

Damnit! I have the left ear fitting in perfectly with the apple earbuds but my right ear falls off so easily...a simple nod and they fall out.
LOL! maybe I'm gimped or something...

I like my Apple earbuds. For me, they stay put as they will only fit kinda "sideways" in my ear canals. I don't get the full sound of the buds that way, though, as only the "front" part of the bud fits in my ear canal (guess my ears are too small). I wish the Apple buds had the kind of design like Sony has where it is kind of skewed and all the sound comes out of the skewed part that sits in your ear canal. I use the Apple buds many times because the "in your brain" sound of the EX71's gives me a headache sometimes. Plus I can't hear my kids calling me or the phone ringing with the EX71's in. And listening to my own breathing can get a bit annoying ... but they do have great sound to me.

Umm... was that frown sarcasm?

My white buds are still in the package. They are probably going to hit ebay soon. My $10 Sony earbuds sound fine.

I completely forgot about the black earbud cover things, maybe I should try them out...

Nope, Apple's earbuds still won't stay, even with the black cover-like things. It's okay though, my Sony ones work better anyway.

my ipod buds fit perfectly in my ears... but I have to admit the sound quality is not what im looking for, especially if you listen to ANYTHING with bass..
then again, im probably not going to fork out more money for my ipod until christmas, haha

I almost hate to admit it, but the stock buds actually don't sound all that bad with the Shuffle if you can get them to fit properly. Maybe it's due to the SigmaTel processor because I still notice sibilance and poor bass response if I use the stock buds with the mini. Just my opinion...
