I have gone to Stereo Shop, Circuit City and Best Buy and no one has a demo unit to play with to see if I can live with the delay in scrolling. Can you help me out, guys? Please describe how slow the scrolling is and is it a major pain? Also, what other problems are observed? This would go in with a Alpine 9827 HU. Thanks!
Most of the install places are saying that the scrolling is not that bad and I should do it but I dont trust them .. :)

Do you have a Car Toys in your area? The one in the town that I live in has at least one head unit rigged up with a KCA-420i.
From personal experience, I find that the scrolling with my 9851 is about two-thirds of a second per entry. However, it may depend on the generation iPod you have. I have a 3G; the 4G iPods may be faster, but I can't find anyone to confirm it.

I take it you mean the scrolling between songs/artists/albums with the volume knob? I would say it takes about half a second to scroll through each selection. I am using a 2nd gen iPod Mini if that has anything to do with it. It is not as fast as I'd like it to be, certainly not as fast as the iPod wheel, but its not a deal breaker.
I usually just use the shuffle feature but I'm thinking about creating playlists in order to make stuff easier to navigate. Trying to get to an artist that is past the letter L takes a while if you have a lot of entries. It would be good to break them up into alphabetical groupings for easier access.
All-in-all I am very happy with my 9851 :)
