I would appreciate suggestions on what earphones to use
with the iPod. I don't like the ones that came with it....putting them in my ear hurts after awhile. Also, I have been told that the
white earphones are a target for thieves.

Thanks.
Cathy

You could check out some Shure E2c if you would like. They have them on www.buy.com . Also what is your price that you are looking to pay?

Watch out for the Shure E2c they might be very uncomfortable at first. if you don't mind using headphones, I would recommending Sennsheiser instead of Shure.

Happy to help - can you provide a sense of
a) your budget for 'phones (there are a lot of options under $50 US, many under $150 US, and, believe it or not, several audiophile options at $200 US and up)
b) your preferences - either the types of music you listen to most or what you like to hear (e.g., willing to sacrifice some accuracy for more bass; willing to sacrifice some bass for greater accuracy)
c) your portability needs - since you're in NYC, I imagine you'll be walking around and riding the train, so you may not want the big cans

btw, I agree with afalconsvick that based on the minimal input you've provided so far, the Shure e2c's may be a good choice. Yes, they get all up in your izzears, but for 60-70 bux US they're the entry point into quality audio (and, unlike those white Apple buds, they're way stealthy)
