Got my very first ipod mini 2G some questions..

Hi all-

I'm enjoying my pink ipod mini alot!! Several questions-

1. I've always just used my Sony CLie to listen to my mp3s using irock FM transmitter, i have one that gets power via cigarette charger, so battery sucking is not an issue for me. Strangely, the sound quality is not as nice when used with ipod compared to my Clie. Wonder why that is... anyways.. I live in SF bay area, wondering if itrip would be something I should invest in?

I drive a company car (Buick Regal), w/o cassette, and I can't just buy a car stereo and put it in... so casette adaptor is out.


2. Since the battery can only "live" for 300 charge cycles, I wonder how long my ipod can last. It didn't seem like a big problem to alot of people, but my friend thought it is a big deal and she bought a creative muvo instead because of this. Will this thing last for at least a few years??

I think it lives for 500 charge cycles. Anyway, that's my question too. How long will the mini battery live until it dies out and begins to lose its hold on the charges? 2 years? Thanks!

The battery will usually last for 18 months.

It really depends on how much you use it. It can last anywhere from just 1 year (heavy use) to 7 years (with very light use). Also your friends muvo, unless it is battery powered, will last for the exact same amount because li-ion batteries all have the same number of charge cycles (300-500)

Assuming a 3rd party 2G Mini battery is released, $30. Or oyu could do it for $99 through Apple.

Or you could extend the warranty for another year for sixty bucks through Apple, what I think that I will do in 8 months or so.

The battery on the Muvo Micro lasts half as long as the mini, so take that into consideration too.
