View Full Version : How could Marware be so dumb?

I bought a Marware SportSuit for my 3rd gen iPod while I was in California (San Diego apple store) since it looked nice and it does. The problem is the opening at the top almost totally blocks the hold switch. It is too small!!! I noticed this as soon as I got back to my hotel and tried it on the iPod. I didn't choose to return it as I thought I can find a way to work around it since it is a nice case and 3rd gen cases are hard to find now. The only way to use the hold switch is to push on the right side of the case and hope the rubber stays on the hold switch and moves it.
See the picture, on the left side is the hold switch and it is halfway covered by the rubber openning which is made too small. Does anyone have any idea what I could do? I am considering cutting a little notch in the top where the hold button is to expose it fully.
Apple store, why would you carry a product like this? It's flawed!

That's a bummer!
Can you control the iPod through the case?
If not, then there shouldn't really be a need to mess with the hold switch ...

Yes you can control it since there are holes for the buttons and a round area for the touch wheel. I haven't used the hold most of the time and It doesn't seem to change songs so I guess I can do without using the hold.

are you sure that's not upside down?
It looks like it's for the dock port.

Naw, it's the top. Marware Sportsuit (http://www.marware.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Marware.woa/4/wa/selectedCategory?catalogCatID=134&wosid=Ycazt25MilJhSNjPmLLukg)
It seems to be a pretty big design flaw ...
Hi. Thanks for the feedback. The case you are referring to was not designed with the intent to use the hold switch since you have full access to all other iPod controls.
I have passed this along to our designers however as an FYI to what our customers are thinking. We take all criticisms good and bad very seriously.
Thank you again for the comments. Thought you might like a response from the "horse's mouth" as they say.
MV;)

Thanks, It's good to know they take customer feedback seriously. This problem could cause people to not buy your product. I like my Marware case because it's soft, nice and protects my iPod.
1)Yes, I thought my signature would make it obvious that I do in fact work for Marware.
2) Quality, not quantity
2b.and I am a professional
^^ ok thanks. I just thought you had to have over a certain amount of posts to be a pro.
