Are the Koss "The Plug" In-Ears any good?

And do they provide enough isolation for an airplane flight, such as trying to block out the some noise of the engines.

Thanks

Wire magazine didn't like them very much:

WIRED: Fairly crisp sound with decent bass and noise cancellation. Cheaper than a week of Frappuccinos.

TIRED: Uncomfortable. Unless you have ears like Prince Charles, they feel like they're going to pop out.

They rated them 2.5 out of 5 stars (same as the Apple In-Ears). The Shure E2c's rated 4 out of 5 stars and the Sony EX-71's rated 3.5 out of 5 stars.

I have heard generally poor comments abbout them, expecially regarding comfort

They're not nearly as bad as everyone is making out. Isolation is pretty good and sound is passible depending on the quality you want (particularly at the price). Not as bass heavy as EX71s but better isolation if not quite as comfortable. Used them as gym headphones for months. Check out the mods on headwize.com. I think they're a good bargain at the price.

Well, I've been using these ones for over a year now, and personally I find they're quite good for the price. I use them as the headphones that I keep "wired into" my jacket. I personally don't find them to be uncomfortable at all, but then again, I have a big head.

They're definitely a middle-of-the-road class of 'phones, but for the price, I've found them to be reasonably good.

Of course, in my case, I don't look for a lot of bass, and as I've said, I have a large head, so they fit my ears better than they might for others.
